Performance Management

The Performance Planning and Development Process

Performance Planning and Development is the performance feedback process at Wayne State University designed to help supervisors and employees identify and successfully meet performance expectations. Effectively managing performance requires coaching, documentation, dialogue and feedback continuously throughout performance period.

Prior to initiating this process, we recommend employees and managers review all the information on the performance planning and development process offered here. Here we describe the overall process, key events and important deadlines, and provide a quick overview of all the tools and forms available, their purpose and instructions for completion. The Performance Planning and Development process was designed to provide both manager and employee flexibility. Once manager and employee have a good understanding of the process they will be better able to choose the right tools and forms, order of completion and deadlines that are best for their situation.
