Service Award Program
Wayne State University recognizes employees for their years of service every five years beginning at ten years of service, concluding with those who have retired from the University. All honorees and retirees, along with their friends, families and colleagues, are invited to attend the Employee Recognition Ceremony where we recognize their contributions to the University. During the ceremony, employees with 10, 15 and 20 years of service will be invited to stand collectively by service year and be recognized by applause. Employees with 25 or more years of service and retirees are recognized with a certificate individually on stage.
Honorees & Retirees will also:
- Have their name included in the Employee Recognition program!
- Receive a certificate for their years of service! Certificates will be mailed to the honoree's office or home following the program.
- Select a special gift that corresponds to their years of service! Following the program, catalogs are mailed to eligible employees and retirees and the employee may choose from a variety of awards. Orders may be placed anytime until June 30th of the year they are being recognized in.
- Choose a photo to keep from the day of the event! This only applies to the 25+ years of service honorees/retirees who walk across the stage to accept their award. More information about how to view and select the photo will be distributed after the event.
We encourage all Schools, Colleges and Divisions to recognize and celebrate the milestones achieved by all service level employees in a way that each deems appropriate.

At the beginning of the program, we will feature our honorees in a short presentation that highlights photos and memorable moments from their time here at Wayne State. This presentation is played during the event for all attendees to enjoy. Whether you are an honoree, coworker, or family member, we encourage you to submit photos and messages about our honorees to be included in this year's presentation.
