Office of the Associate Vice President 

The Office of the Associate Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer leads the university's HR strategy, overseeing Total Rewards, Payroll, Employee & Labor Relations, HR Analytics & Reporting (HRAR), HR Client Services and Organization & Employee Development. 

HR Client Services 

HR Client Services provides HR consulting for recruiting and on-boarding, performance management and off-boarding. Client Services also supports managers in the interpretation and application of HR policies and business processes, HR transactions (EPAF) and Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). 

HR Analytics & Reporting 

HR Analytics & Reporting handles HR transactions, data management, business intelligence, compliance reporting and records management. HR Analytics & Reporting also provides system support and process liaison services and Tier 1 Systems Support. 

Organization & Employee Development  

Organization & Employee Development identifies solutions to achieve performance management goals and works closely with managers to provide consulting and uncover barriers to performance goals.

Total Rewards manages employee benefits (health, retirement, tuition assistance and wellness), job classification, compensation and related programs for both represented and non-represented employees.

Employee & Labor Relations 

Employee and Labor Relations handles contract negotiations, advises managers on issues such as attendance, performance, misconduct, workplace behavior, investigations and disciplinary actions for unionized employees. Employee & Labor Relations also provides counseling to managers/supervisors (pertaining to non-academic represented [unionized] personnel) related to employee attendance, work performance, minor and major misconduct, workplace violence, workplace behavior/interactions, workplace investigations and any resulting disciplinary action(s).

Payroll 

Payroll is responsible for payroll payments to all Wayne State University employees. Payroll also processes all income tax withholdings and payments, salary advances, W-2 forms, 1042S forms, direct deposit and court ordered deductions.
