Tuition Assistance Programs
Wayne State University provides the following types of tuition benefits:
-
Employee Tuition Assistance Benefit pays 100% of the cost of tuition, regular registration fee and Student Services Fee (formerly Omnibus) for eligible employees, subject to limits documented in the university policy and union contracts. All other fees are the responsibility of the student.
- Reduced Tuition for Spouse/Child of Employee Benefit pays 50% of the cost of tuition only for an eligible spouse/child of an eligible employee.
- Reduced Tuition for Spouse/Child of Union of Part-Time Faculty (UPTF) Member Benefit pays 50% of the cost of tuition only for an eligible spouse/child of an eligible UPTF member.
Tuition Assistance Application Deadlines
All applications, except those whose union contract says differently, are due no later than 10 business days after the Last Day for Tuition Cancellation. This is a deadline which will be firmly administered so the Payroll office can spread out any tax liability over more pay periods for that term. Students are responsible for any late fees that may be assessed. View the deadlines in the Academic Calendar.
Tuition Exchange Scholarships
Additionally, Tuition Exchange Scholarships are available for Employee Dependents. The Tuition Exchange Organization is a nonprofit consortium of more than 600 colleges and universities that provides its members the opportunity to exchange tuition scholarships for the benefit of their employee dependents. As a member of the Tuition Exchange (TE), Wayne State University invites eligible employees to apply for this tuition scholarship program should they have dependent children interested in attending another TE institution as an undergraduate degree-seeking student. A list of the colleges and universities that are members of the TE program can be viewed at www.tuitionexchange.org . Visit the Tuition Exchange Scholarships web page for more information.
